Allegory of the Cave schyluurmorgain Quote I: “And whereas the other so-called virtues of the soul seem to be akin to bodily qualities, for even when they are not originally innate they can be implanted later by habit and exercise, the ot wisdom more than anything else contains a divine element which always remains, and by this conversion is rendered useful and profitable: or. on the other hand, hurtful and useless. (Page 5) Response: Throughout this part of the passage, Plato is saying that you cannot ust learn and be educated by being spoon-fed, you need to learn on your own. Plato uses “habit and exercise” as a way to portray an act that needs to be done independently. By doing tasks through habit and constant exercise, you can learn through repetition or individual intelligence. agree with Plato’s philosophy because think that independence can lead to personal growth and development.

Not only does independence help, but you can apprehend more through repetition and habit. Quote 2: “And it he is compelled to look straight at the light, will he not have a pain in his eyes which will make him turn away to take and rake in the objects of vision Which he can see. and Which he Will conceive to be in reality clearer than the things which are now being shown to him? True, he said. ” Response: In this piece, Plato describes the reality of looking at the deeper meaning and understanding what viewers comprehend.

He states that by facing reality, you will eventually understand it’s deeper meaning When Plato claims he will conceive to be in reality clearer than the things which are now being shown to him,” he is describing that when you face reality, you have to see the real picture. and by seeing the real picture you determine an actuality. Once again, agree with Plato’s philosophy because I have had to face reality in which it made me realize a deeper meaning. Not only does personal experience help me perceive his ideas, but it is understandable to face reality and comprehend clearer things.
