Antigone Mask Project

Antigone Mask Project

Daniel Okolo Antigone Mask Project In the Greek Theatre, the actors used masks in order to communicate the characters to the audience. One actor could play several different characters, and each character would have several masks, in order to show different emotions. Choose two different characters in Antigone. Complete the character analysis worksheet below for each character. Design a mask for each of those characters. Trace the shape of your face on a large sheet of paper. The mask should cover the entire face: from forehead to chin and ear to ear.

The base of the mask can be paper, poster board, cardboard, or other similar material. You may create the design with any material, such as markers, color pencils, paint, fabric, beads, etc. The mask may be drawn, painted or collaged, or a combination of media. Use your creativity, but do not merely decorate the mask; the design should magnify the character and emotion expressed in the quotation you selected from the play. DUE: ____________________ I.
