Outside the city gates Antigone talks about the importance of family in attempt to persuade Ismene to join her in the burial

Ismene rejects the plan Antingone gives her a harsh response concerned in personal game

Chrous celebrate the Theban victory in the battle between the two brothers Etocles and Polynices

Creon enters and says people should place the state above their family or friends,

Creon states his intentions to bury Eteocles but bit Polynices as he is a traitor

Sentry tells Creon that someone has buried Polynices but doesn’t know who it was, The leader suggests that the gods were involved

Creo is outraged in the idea that the gods are involved and blames it on bribery and insults the sentry
